Nelsen Middle School Reaches Out
Nelsen Middle School Teachers, Parents and Students are really in the Spirit of Giving and Helping this season.
Following are just a few of the activities planned or completed meant to help others within the school and outside.
Great Work, Nelsen!
McTeacher's Night: Nelsen Teachers and Families recently connected for what counselor Scott Jones said was a "fun and lively" dinner at nearby McDonalds. The evening had a dual purpose, where the group was able to raise over $500 that will support Nelsen's Family/Community Partnership to support Spanish-speaking families at Nelsen.
Holiday Angels Toy Drive: Nelsen's FCCLA is partnering with the Benson Hill Starbucks on their Holiday Angels Toy Drive, running from Dec. 1-12. New toys (only) will be collected for ill children. Classes collecting the most toys will earn Starbucks treats.
CD Players Needed: Nelsen's Library is seeking gently donations for 20 used CD players and headphones for its library, a fantastic opportunity to recycle perfectly good materials during this time of budget constraints.
Phones for Ghana: Ms. Cockle, Nelsen 7th Grade Teacher, is heading to Ghana during winter break and hopes to take a good supply of workable cell phones and adapters to these people who use this as their only source for communication as land-lines are unavailable. Contact Nelsen MS to make donations.
