Residents in the greater Fairwood area now have the ability to obtain local news in real time. Branded as Fairwood's new-generation news source, Fairwood Community News, will provide local news to all.
Readership Extends to All
Now, all those features are available to all residents throughout the greater Fairwood area. The term "Fairwood" is loosely defined, where over 30 communities within this area have already been identified as neighborhoods Fairwood Community News will serve.
“I’m extremely pleased about the launch of Fairwood Community News and the ability to do so much more. The scope of how this comprehensive news source can serve communities online is inexhaustive; now we have the opportunity to reach a broad readership,” said Publisher Tami Tedrow-Howard.
Tedrow-Howard has over 20 years of editing and design experience and has an established extensive network of community leaders since she has been a resident of the area for a long time.
“Readers can receive news and updates as soon as it happens because posts can occur in real time. So far, everyone has been very positive about this new resource," said Tedrow-Howard.
Communities Served
The term “Fairwood” is loosely defined. “We’re targeting communities from Maple Valley Highway to the north and as far south as communities just south of Kentridge High School. Readers should hover over our navigation bar to review the schools and communities we intend to engage. If more want to be involved, all they need to do is contact us. This will be a powerful resource for all,” said Tedrow-Howard.
Census figures in 2000 estimated that the Fairwood area includes over 34,000 households. "We're very excited about that potential readership size," said Tedrow-Howard. "We understand that this grass-roots news source's strength is dependent upon our readers 1) spreading the word and 2) letting us know about news to share with others."
