Volunteers Prepare for Annual
Kentridge Senior Night Auction

Volunteers are needed to plan, procure, decorate, set up, clean up, work and finally bid at Kentridge's annual Senior Auction night.

Those who have attended this gala in the past appreciate the evening: A great dinner donated by a local restaurant, visiting with friends throughout the evening, and bidding on a variety of attractive items. The hours involved in making the evening happen can be overwhelming, unless a large contingent of volunteers contribute to the effort.

According to volunteer organizers, now is the time for the troops to again do the great work they've done each year. The work first begins with collecting auction items. This year, the restaurant graciously supplying dinner to attendees is the Golden Steer, located on Kent's East Hill.

"A successful auction needs a variety of auction items. Parents and can help by donating an item or gift certificate," said KR parent and volunteer Rose McLaren.

Below is a list of ideas suggested for donations:

Direct Donations: Yard work, monthly desserts, boat trips, theatre tickets, and ball game tickets such as Mariners, Seahawks, Huskies or Sonics. Areas are limited only by one's imagination.

Got Connections? Do you work for a company or know someone who would be willing to provide an auction item?  There is no harm in asking for a donation.

Gift Certificates. A wonderful donation, that can stand alone or we can combine into a gift package.
*   Local restaurants (Paolo's, Armondo's,etc)
*   Downtown restaurants (Salty's, Space Needle,etc)
*   Hotels (local, downtown or Northwest)
*   Retail stores (Nordstrom's, Target, Macy's,etc)
*   Services (haircuts, manicures, massages,etc)

Cash. A cash donation allows the group to supplement current donations or add items to complete a package. How simple can this get!

The Big Event

To make it all happen, KR's Senior Auction involves 30-40 parent volunteers, up to 160 auction items and a targeted goal to raise approximately $30,000 to supplement the final send-off party.

"Money raised from this exciting event provides scholarships and helps fund a safe, fun-filled "All Night" party for Kentridge graduates," said McLaren.

Those who would like to donate and volunteer can contact Cyndy Bell at 425-228-2848 or cyndy-bell@comcast.net.

All are encouraged to check back with Fairwood Community News for the most current updates on this event.
