October Crime Re-cap
In the month of October we had nine residential burglaries.  This was the same as in September. We also had nine larcenies, most of which were shoplifts.  For the third month in a row we had only one stolen vehicle.  This is no doubt the result of King County’s new Car Theft Initiative Program.  No longer are repeat offenders given chance after chance.  Their jail sentences are significant, as have been the results.  See photos at the end of this report for the results of this enforcement.

Apartment Burglar Arrested
An arrest was made in a burglary at a Fairwood Apartment.  The suspect entered the residence and took checks and a handgun.  The suspect was arrested after attempting to cash one of the stolen checks he had made out to himself, using his real name and ID, at a location where he is a known customer.  The gun has not yet been recovered.

Blockwatch Captains List
I am currently attempting to establish a list of Blockwatch Captains in the Fairwood area.  If you are a Blockwatch Captain, or know one, please email me with the information at Samuel.shirley@kingcounty.gov

Take a Stand Against Crime – Join a Neighborhood Watch
Neighborhood Watch, Block Watch, Town Watch
Building Watch, Crime Watch

Whatever the name, it’s one of the most effective and least costly ways to prevent crime and reduce fear. Neighborhood Watch fights the isolation that crime both creates and feeds upon. It forges bonds among area residents, helps reduce burglaries and robberies, and improves relations between police and the communities they serve.

If you are interested in starting a neighborhood watch please contact me (Sam Shirley) at the Fairwood Storefront Office.  The number is (206) 296-3846.
