Kent Rotary Awards January
Students of the Month for Kentridge

Leah Hollingsworth
Leah Hollingsworth, senior at Kentridge High School, was selected as one of the Kent Rotary Students of the Month for Kentridge.

Hollingsworth is a varsity member of the Kentridge Girls Golf Team for the past four years and served as the Girls' Captain of the team. She has competed at the District Tournament every year and will advance to the State Tournament this spring. In addition to her involvement in the Golf Team at KR, she has been in the Junior Golf Program at the Meridian Valley County Club for five years.

Other school and community activities include the Kentridge Choir, Rainier Youth Choir, DECA and Girls Honors. She also takes private voice lessons and participates in competitions and adjudications for choir/voice. Hollingsworth is also a member of the 2009 All-Northwest Choir.

College plans include majoring in Communications and continuing to improve her golf skills on a college team. Her college of choice is undecided.

Russell Turpin
Russell Turpin, a senior at Kentridge High school, was also selected as one of the Kent Rotary Students of the Month for Kentridge.

Turpin played on the First Team for football for both junior and senior years and also was the captain of the team. He also threw the javelin and shot put for the Track Team and made it to League and District for both events. Outside school athletics, Turpin coached at the Puget Sound Football Camp during the summer for kids in grades 4-8.

Other school and community activities include his participation as a Link Crew Leader and being an active participant at St. Stephen the Martyr Church.

Accepted at both Montana State and Boise State Universities, his college plans are still undecided. Turpin would like to continue to play football or participate in Track at college.
