Maple Valley Man Arrested for Murder
Public's Help Needed
King County Sheriff's detectives and homicide detectives from San Jose, California are looking for help from the public after a Christmas-time shooting that left a mother of three dead. Her ex-husband was arrested for the murder.
Detectives would like to speak with any Seattle-area friends, acquaintances, or co-workers of the suspect as part of their follow-up investigation.
San Jose police arrested a 33 year-old Maple Valley man, Daniel Tilbury, shortly after the homicide. Until his arrest, he was a Technical Supervisor at Qwest Communications in Tukwila.
Tilbury is in a Santa Clara County Jail, charged with the murder. It is alleged he shot and killed his 33 year-old estranged wife, Christine Ramos, on December 29, 2008.
Detectives say Tilbury and Ramos were divorced, but had three sons with joint custody. Tilbury was in California over Christmas staying with his parents. However he learned his ex-wife was trying to get full custody of the boys.
The boys were 4, 6 and 7 years old, respectively.
On December 29 at about 8:45 PM Tilbury went to Christine’s house and knocked on the door. Her brother opened the door and Tilbury went inside. He pulled out a large handgun and shot Christine twice. She fell to the floor and he shot her several more times, including one shot to the base of her skull. The gun used was Tilbury’s .50 caliber Desert Eagle.
In addition to Christine’s brother, also present during the shooting were the victim’s fiancé and soon-to-be stepson who is 9 years-old.
Tilbury drove off after the homicide but was found shortly thereafter and arrested.
Sheriff's detectives and San Jose detectives searched Tilbury’s Maple Valley apartment on January 5, 2009. They seized several other handguns, rifles, shotguns, and assorted ammunition.
