The Lions Health Screening Unit (LHSU) will be available at the King County Library in Fairwood for FREE health screening on Saturday, February 21, from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm.
The LHSU provides screening to community members for high blood pressure, glaucoma, diabetes, as well as sight and hearing loss.
"The Lions Health Screening Unit is a professionally-equipped, state-licensed, mobile unit staffed by health professionals, Lions Club members, and volunteers," said Ed Wildeboor, Secretary of the Fairwood Lions Club.
It travels throughout the Northwest, providing free health screenings to the public and is being made available by the sponsorship of the Fairwood Lions Club and the Northwest Lions Foundation for Sight and Hearing, in partnership with the Renton Fire Department in recognition of Heart month.
UPDATED
According to Fairwood Lions Club member Ed Wildeboor, volunteers screened 53 Fairwood neighbors for various health concerns on Saturday.
"It was an excellent response for an event of this type, especially since we were in Fairwood for only one day. We received a great deal of cooperation from the merchants in allowing us to put up posters, and we especially appreciate your (Fairwood Community News) support as well," said Wildeboor.
The Fairwood Library location was also an asset to making the event successful. "The Fairwood Library was a perfect location as it is probably the closest thing that we have to a 'community center' here in Fairwood," said Wildeboor.
