Renton Rotary Awards
March Teacher of the Month

Carla Prater is a special education teacher at Renton Park Elementary. Carla attended the University of Central Arkansas, in Conway, AR and earned a Bachelors Degree in Education with a minor in Geography.

She is currently working on a Masters Degree in Special Education at City
University. Before teaching in Renton, Carla taught in Special Education, Resource, and Self-Contained Behavior Disorder classrooms for 21 years. This is Prater’s fourth year teaching in Renton

Rotary members recognize three Renton School District school teachers each month. Other teachers honored this month include Ann Nguyen, First Grade Teacher at Talbot Hill Elementary, and Susan Branham-Melvin, Librarian at Maplewood Heights Elementary.

As part of the recognition, teachers attend Rotary’s Teacher of the Month recognition luncheon held At Maplewood Golf Course. Each teacher is introduced, makes a brief comment about their school and classroom.

They also receive $200 to be used for classroom supplies, or instructional
materials.
