Linnea Shockley
Linnea Shockley, senior at Kentridge High School, was selected as one of the Kent Rotary Students of the Month for Kentridge in Fine and Performing Arts for March.
Shockley has been in Kentridge drama productions for the past three years participating in Fame, Mack & Mabel, Little Me, and Thoroughly Modern Millie, where she was a featured dancer. She will have a lead role in KR's upcoming production of High School Musical.
Outside of the school year productions, Shockley performed in At the Ridge Theatre's summer production of Music Man, where she played the role of Gracie, the mayor's youngest daughter.
Additional school activities include member and officer of the Chatelaine Dance Team for three years and the Kentridge Choir.
College plans include majoring in either physical therapy or ultrasound technology at Western Washington University.
Derek Van Clement
Derek Van Clement, a senior at Kentridge High school, was also selected as one of the Kent Rotary Students of the Month for Kentridge in Fine and Performing Arts for March.
Van Clement has participated in Kentridge's Drama program since his sophomore year, high school choir for the past four years. This passion overflows into similar community activities outside of school, where Van Clement has participated in his church's plays and choir.
Other activities include KR swim and track and scouting.
In addition to being a KR student, he is involved in the Running Start college program, where he is on track to receive his Associate of Arts Degree and has been accepted into Phi Theta Kappa, a two-year college honor society program.
Accepted at BYU Provo, his college plans are to participate in track, serve on a two-year mission, and majoring in electrical engineering with a musical theater minor.
