Carriage Crest Elementary Dedicates Full Month
to Study of Poetry
Carriage Crest poets shared their work during “April is Poetry Month!”
A poem-a-day was featured including well-known poets such as Christina Rossetti, Robert Louis Stevenson, Kenn Nesbitt, and Eric Ode, who was a guest author at Carriage Crest in 2006.
These poet's poems and others appeared in the school’s main hallway from April 1 through April 30, inspiring your Coyotes to write, illustrate, and publish their own "masterpieces," according to Susan Fish, Carriage Crest Instructional Coach.
Classrooms immersed themselves in poetry units of study and library classes were introduced to poetry as a genre and poet author studies.
"A 'Keep Poem in Your Pocket Day' (April 30) concluded the month of poetry study with a bulletin board chocked-full of wonderful classic and newly-inspired poetic text," said Fish.
