Fairwood Greens Planning BIG Community
Garage and Yard Sales this Weekend

Leading into the End-of-Summer Community Garage/Yard Sale Season, this area's largest planned community offers its "treasures" to the public this weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 24-26 from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
A well organized event, Fairwood Greens takes its community sale one step further than typical community sales. They have scheduled a Salvation Army Truck to appear on its final day for useable donations, a way to recycle items that didn't sell during the weekend event.
The Greater Fairwood area residents are also encouraged to take their slightly used donations to the Salvation Army Truck during this time, as good quality donations are always needed by this organization. The Salvation Army Truck will be located at Allen Park on Sunday, beginning at 1:00 pm.
Some communities have covenants against individual garage sales. Although this is not the case for Fairwood Greens, they support holding a community event, too, as it fosters a community spirit and it allows the sellers to capitalize on the "strength in numbers" approach.
"We advertise the Community Sale in a variety of places such as Craigslist. We try to make a concerted effort to encourage a high level of traffic to our sales during this time," said Fairwood Trustee Bonnie Lyon.
