Vote Fairwood Kicks Off Pro-Incorporation Campaign Today, Vote Targeted for Nov. 3

On Monday, July 27, the Fairwood Municipal Initiative will be kicking off the "Vote Fairwood" campaign.  This informal event will be held outside of the Fairwood Library (17009 140th Ave SE, Renton) today at 7:00 PM

"Earlier on Monday, it is expected that the King County Council will place the incorporation measure on the November 3 General Election ballot.  This follows the June 17th 8 to 2 vote by the King County Boundary Review Board to support incorporation of the new City of Fairwood," said Vote Fairwood Representative Jim Keough.

In September, 2006, a measure for incorporation failed to pass by just 270 votes (3.5%) and this was after the King County Boundary Review Board voted against incorporation.  Since that time, Fairwood community leaders restructured their proposal.

"Now with the overwhelming support from the King County Review Board, the Vote Fairwood campaign is confident they will be successful in November," said Keough.

A few short speeches are planned at this event, along with a volunteer sign-up for campaign activities for the four-month campaign.

I would like to attend a live debate/discussion to hear both sides of the issue at the same time.  Residents would have a chance to ask questions.  If the questions were written down, then read by a moderator, Fairwood residents could learn a lot about the issue.

Does anyone know if one is planned?

Smith said: I'd just like to see a list of pro-incorporation arguements posted, with the anti-incorporation responses, and a list of anti-incorporation arguements with the pro-incorporation responses.  What we have currently is two separate streams of "vote for me" that don't talk about the same things.  Give me info and I'll make my choice.

Although we have tried to provide you with comprehensive information about the study and the issues, our archives at the bottom of the Homepage require that you dig through that material. We like the idea you have proposed and will definitely cover the issues in this fashion as the election date approaches. Thanks. - Ed.

Outstanding.  We can finally vote "NO" to Fairwood Incorporation.  Hopefully, on November 3rd the measure will fail overwhelmingly so we all can put the terrible idea of Fairwood incorporation behind us.
