Renton Rotary Announces May
Youth of the Month Award

Amber Hiranka, senior at Lindbergh High School, was selected as the Lindbergh Rotary Youth of the Month.

Hiranka has a 4.0 G.P.A. and has been a member of Key Club, Varsity and Junior Varsity Tennis.

She has received AP Scholar Award, American Association of University Women Scholar Recognition Award for Science, Varsity Tennis—Most Improved, Junior Varsity Tennis — MVP, Honor Society, and Mathematics Certificate of Excellence.

Hiranaka also volunteers forvolunteers at the Renton Public Library to reshelf books movies and DVDs.

She plans to attend a four year university to study chemistry, forensics and some biology to become a forensic scientist or teach high school chemistry.

Rotary members recognize three Renton School District high school students each month as Youth of the Month.

After being selected by counselors at each of the district’s three high schools, a selection committee of Rotary members reviews applications and interviews students to identify those who will be selected as Youth of the Month.

The award is given to students who possess leadership abilities, maintain a good grade point average, participate in school activities and volunteer in their community.
