Another Fairwood business is planning to move from the Fairwood Shopping Center this fall, and the owner wonders what is going on.
Ricki Kay, owner of Fairwood Martial Arts, has been a part of the Fairwood Community for the past 15 years. According to Kay, after lengthy rounds of negotiations, efforts failed and the business is now faced with a move.
"We were in negotiations for almost two months to secure the future of our business for the next ten years. The center is owned by a group in Los Angeles. The negotiations have fallen through and we will be relocating our business. This will be a loss for the shopping center and for the Fairwood community. Too many businesses are moving out of the shopping center," said Kay.
Plans are underway to move Fairwood Martial Arts to the Cascade Village Shopping Center, scheduled for a grand opening on September 1. Construction of the space is already underway.
With this move, Fairwood Shopping Center has another 3,277 square feet of space available, and Kay thinks something else is being planned. Whatever that is, plans aren't being shared.
"You should know that there is something going on with the Fairwood Shopping Center; exactly what I am not sure," said Kay.
