  • Neighborhood Watch – Regarding the police activity in our neighborhood a week ago, I heard back from Officer Shirley.  He said there was a call regarding a man with a gun. He ran back into the house with a shotgun when confronted by the Deputies.  The SWAT came out and arrested him.  For more details on crime in Fairwood and the issue with ‘sexting,’ see http://www.fairwoodcommunitynews.com/2010/

  • Fairwood Restaurant Proposal– My name is David Brunetto and I live in the Candlewood Ridge section of Fairwood.  I am contacting all the HOAs and people in the area I can, to do an informal survey.  As you probably know, the Hollywood video on the corner of 140th and Petrovitsky will be closing at some point in the near future.  I am considering putting an upscale pub style restaurant into that space.  It would serve upscale American style pub food.  Though no menu has been formalized at this point, some examples of offerings would be, Asian chicken  salad,  rib eye steak,  gourmet burger, guiness lamb stew, stuffed jalapenos,  French onion soup,  pulled pork sandwich,  blackened salmon Caesar, roasted chicken,  Calamari. We would have upscale beer, wine and alcohol selections. There would probably be an open view kitchen with a wood fired grill.  Flat screen TVs would be available for sports viewing, probably 3 or 4.  However, this would not be a sports bar.  I have lived in Candlewood Ridge for 24 years and want my concept to match the Fairwood area lifestyle. The emphasis would be on food.  The restaurant side would be family friendly, with the bar side geared towards people socializing over appetizers. It would probably be open 7 days a week from about 3 p.m, to 10 p.m. during the week and maybe close as late as 11 or 12 on Friday and Saturday.  Hopefully, this gives you a sense of the concept I am considering.  I am contacting as many HOAs, businesses and local people as possible to get feedback on whether or not there is enough interest in the area for this type of concept, in order for me to consider moving forward with a business plan.  Any feedback from you and others would be greatly appreciated.  Please respond to the e-mail address below, regardless of whether it is positive or negative.  I want to hear from all sides. Feel free to make any suggestions.   Also, in the e-mail subject line, would you please put the word yes or no, to express your approval or disapproval and  list the area of fairwood you are from, fairwood firs, fairwood greens, candlewood, carriagewood, Maplewood, etc,. This would help me to get a quick snapshot view of whether or not there is support, and whether or not the support is broad based.  In the coming days I will be walking through the area handing out copies of this letter.  In the meantime, please feel free to distribute this letter and the e-mail address to any one you know and encourage them to respond.  Thanks for your time and help.  I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Brunetto fairwoodrestaurantproposal@q.com
