Renton Rotary Awards
February Teacher of the Month

Sandra Hachtel is a music teacher at Hazelwood, Highlands and Benson Hill Elementaries. Sandra received a Bachelors degree in Music and Spanish from Western Oregon University and received her Teaching Certification from Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon.

Hatchtel continued at Western Oregon University to earn a Masters Degree in English as a Second Language & Bilingual Education.

Hatchtel has been a teacher in Renton for two years..

Rotary members recognize three Renton School District school teachers each month. Other teachers honored this month include Carla Smith, Business Education Teacher at Sartori Education Center, and Allison Fox, second grade teachers at Bryn Mawr Elementary.

As part of the recognition, teachers attend Rotary’s Teacher of the Month recognition luncheon held At Maplewood Golf Course. Each teacher is introduced, makes a brief comment about their school and classroom.

They also receive $200 to be used for classroom supplies, or instructional
materials.
