Kent School District
Karen DeBruler Appointed as Fairwood Area Representative for Kent School Board

On March 3, the Kent School District Board of Directors appointed Karen DeBruler to fill the position for District #2, representing the northeast portion of the school district. CLICK HERE for the district map.

Schools represented in this area include Carriage Crest, Emerald Park, Fairwood, Glenridge, Lake Youngs, Ridgewood, Meeker, Northwood, and Kentridge.

DeBruler is a 30-year veteran elementary school teacher who currently works with highly capable students in the Issaquah School District. During the course of her career, she has taught five different grade levels.

During a special meeting, the school board publicly interviewed each of the five candidates and asked them a series of prepared questions. The candidates had previously submitted their applications to the school district for consideration.

DeBruler will take the oath of office on March 10 during the school board’s next public meeting. She will serve until the term expires in the fall of 2011.

The position is vacant due to the resignation of Director Chris Davies in January.
